Book Description

Everybody calls Phillip Isaac Penn, Pip. And usually they yell it at the top of their lungs. Sure he might forget to close the classroom mice's cage door, or leave his mother's hair dryer in bathtub (hey, it's unplugged), and he might even make it so that Liar Lizzy gets caught, but that doesn't make him bad. It's just not easy being a kid.

Book Review and Awards

"It was just another day when my ears were hurting from too many people shouting "Pip!" Yeah, it was Wednesday morning, and this time it was my dad who was hollering at me. . . ." So starts another day in this delightful story, about a boy, nick-named Pip, who is so typically "all boy." The Misadventures of Phillip Isaac Penn by Donna L. Peterson, follows the life of Pip on a "typical boy week" with antics that any mother or dad of boys and sisters of little brothers could easily relate to and will keep you smiling through this "boys tale." By the end of the week, Pip has encountered various situations where decisions had to be made. I would say the reading level would be for grades 3-4, but this would be a great book to read with your younger kids. The Misadventures of Pip made me wish I had a little boy again - I even read some of it to my 26 year old son and we laughed together - that was fun." - Kay Curtiss "This book was adorable. It follows a week in the life of Phillip Isaac Pen, or Pip. He's your typical young boy, always getting into trouble. Sometimes he's innocent, sometimes he's not. He is always fun though. Each chapter begins a day, often with Pip already getting into trouble before the day begins. Each chapter also highlights a particular person causing Pip trouble." - Lisa
